STORING INSTRUCTIONS

BORAL flooring is carefully kiln dried, and packaged to keep out moisture and prevent damage. The floor should be transported and stored only in conditions that prevent exposure to moisture or high humidity. Prior to delivery to the jobsite, the building must be completely enclosed with all windows and doors installed, wet work including concrete, tile, drywall and paint must be completed and thoroughly dry. The building should be well ventilated and temperature and humidity maintained at living conditions. Subfloor moisture should not exceed 2% difference between the hardwood floor at equilibrium moisture content (EMC) for the geographic region. Flooring should be acclimated for 4 to 5 days only under conditions of humidity and temperature that reflect the normal living conditions.

INSTALLATION-SOLID

BORAL SOLID flooring can be nailed or stapled to a wood subfloor similar to the installation of oak flooring. Flooring must be installed above grade. Subfloor should be no less than 5/8" CDX plywood over joists 16" on center. Subfloor must be flat, clean, dry, sound and free of squeaks. Tolerance should be flat to 3/16" in 10’. Subfloor should be covered with 15 lb. asphalt saturated felt paper or laminated kraft paper lapped 4" at seams. Flooring should be laid perpendicular to the joists. A 3/4" expansion space should be maintained at the perimeter and all vertical obstructions. The butt joints of the flooring should be staggered a minimum of 6". Fasten with a 2" flooring cleat or staple every 8" and within 2-3" of each end. Use a minimum of 2 fasteners per piece.

Wood subfloors should be no less than 5/8" CDX plywood over joists 16" on center and within 2% moisture content of the EMC of the wood flooring. All subfloors must be flat, clean, dry and sound. Tolerance should be flat to 3/16" in 10’. Relative humidity must be maintained between 45-60% at all times.
Glue Down installation- Using Bostik’s (Best or BST) or Franklin’s 811 Advantage or Sika T-55 adhesive, comply with the adhesive manufacturer’s subfloor preparation, moisture, trowel and spread rates for the installation of 9/16” engineered.
